Land Acknowledgement
The State of Michigan occupies the ancestral, traditional and contemporary lands of the Anishinaabek – Three Fires Confederacy, of the Odawa (Ottawa), Ojibwe (Chippewa) and Bode’wadmi (Potawatomi). We recognize the historic Indigenous communities in Michigan, and those who were forcibly removed from their homelands. We further recognize the ongoing relationship of, dependence upon, and respect for, all living beings of earth, sky and water. In offering this land acknowledgement, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty, history and experience.

Today I had the thrill of a lifetime--and the great honor--of attending a fundraiser for our Michigan State Representative Jenn Hill with special guest Governor Gretchen Whitmer by her side.
Our beloved Governor Whitmer joined Representative Hill and a large devoted cheering crowd of supporters at the Pavilion on Northern Michigan University's spectacular mother-tree-rich campus in the heart of Marquette, the queen city of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Governor Whitmer and Representative Hill gave energizing and empowering remarks during this celebration of accomplishments. To the delighted crowd, both of these amazing leaders made a determined call for continued work, success, and victory for all Americans.
My longtime friend Martha Fitzgerald pictured on the left shaking hands with Governor Whitmer told me what she said to her: "I love you. Please run for President."
I second that emotion!
